A Parliament tour, then an evening with Vienna's property trade

Half past three on a September afternoon, and we were at the visitor entrance of the Austrian Parliament on Dr Karl Renner-Ring, waiting for a guided tour. A guide took us through Theophil Hansen's building, reopened after its general renovation. Then we went up to KELSEN, the Parliament's restaurant and events venue, where the networking began.

We came to the Wiener Immobilien Club to meet property developers and construction companies, with Aberger Software, from Hagenberg, whose key.fit platform handles memberships and billing. Developers decide how a building gets its water, power and controls. Those are the systems we advise on. For the firms that own and run such buildings, we also build operating software, from websites to internal tools.

Run by Wiener Branding, a local agency, the club is a quarterly after-work evening for the city's developers and brokers, and it promises no rigid timetable. LEADERSNET, the club's media partner, photographed its guests on the KELSEN rooftop terrace, with the Vienna skyline behind them.

Wiener Branding puts the premise in one line, which we translate: the property business "is, and remains, a contact sport". We had come to play.
