The challenge: growth outrunning the processes underneath it
Distribution businesses that grow quickly tend to outgrow their processes before they outgrow their systems. Reporting takes longer than the decision it supports. Inventory is accurate in one place and approximate in another. Finance closes late because the wholesale process was never written down, only learned.
None of that shows up as a crisis. It shows up as a company that cannot answer questions about itself at the speed it is now making decisions.
The approach: document the process, then implement to it
ASE supported the ERP and SAP implementation with process standardisation running alongside rather than afterwards. Reporting, inventory and finance workflows were specified, and the wholesale process was documented rather than absorbed by the people already doing it.
The engagement closed with a structured run and change handover. That distinction matters: run is what the business does every day, change is how it modifies the system. Implementations that hand over only the first leave the client dependent on the implementer for the second.
The results: a distributor that can answer questions about itself
The client is now listed in the FT1000, the Financial Times ranking of Europe’s fastest-growing companies. ASE does not claim that ranking as an outcome of this work; the sequence is worth stating plainly because the distinction is exactly the kind that case studies usually blur. What the work delivered was the reporting, inventory and finance workflows and the documented process behind them, at a company growing at that rate.
The company reports a team of more than one hundred across ten countries and a warehouse footprint above 2,000 square metres, and carries an A+ credit rating alongside the FT1000 listing. Note that its own site dates its start to 2016 while the Hungarian company register records the entity as founded in September 2018.
